2011-12 ADDY JUdges

Judge selection is always a very extensive process. Each year our ADDY Chairs, committee members and industry leaders spend countless hours researching qualified candidates who are well respected, experienced and can relate to our market to judge our local competition.

This years judge search was no exception, our judges encompass proficiencies in multiple areas of expertise and represent some of the top agencies in the country to make the connections and understand how ideas and creativity can combine for powerful results.

2011-12 ADDY JUDGES 
AARON HOWE
Deutsch, Los Angeles  
As a SVP ACD, Aaron currently runs the global digital and social creative for HTC at Deutsch Los Angeles. He also oversees the California Milk Advisory Board and Anthem Healthcare advertising. 

With over twelve years of digital and traditional experience, his other clients have included Sony Playstation, Directv, Activision, Cadbury Schweppes, Snapple, Gametap, Move.com, Disney, and the LA Weekly.

Aaron started his career at Rolling Stone and he since worked at agencies large and small.  He has won Clios, Effies, ADDYs, MI6s and Webbys for work across clients. 

Not new to judging shows, but this is his first year judging the Addys. He’s thrilled to be a part of it. 

Aaron has a MFA in sculpture from Claremont and a BFA in photography and design from UMASS Amherst. He lives in LA with his wife, daughter and pooch.

RILEY KANE
Mono, Minneapolis
Riley is currently a Creative Director/Writer at mono in Minneapolis. He has been there nearly 4 years, working on brands such as MSNBC, Apple, Herman Miller, Good Magazine, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day. 

Riley started his career at Fallon, working primarily on BMW. He also was a writer at Merkley & Partners/NYC, Carmichael Lynch and digital agency space150. 

His work has won One Show pencils, and been recognized by Cannes, Communications Arts, D & AD, The Clios, The Webbys, The Effies, New York Art Director’s Club, FWA and the Kelly Awards. Riley  also recently created his first app, Younicorn, which was on the iTune’s ‘What’s Hot” list, and rated one of the top apps of 2010 by Bloomberg Businessweek.

ALAN YAMAMOTO
Alan Yamamoto Concept and Copy, Seattle
Alan has won numerous awards for creative excellence, including The One Show, Cannes, Clio Awards, National and Northwest Addys, London International Advertising Awards, New York Art Directors Club, OBIE Awards, International Broadcasting Awards and the Athena Creative Newspaper Awards. He was also named one of the top ten copywriters in the nation by Adweek "Winners" magazine. The radio spot he wrote and produced for the American Advertising Museum was voted the best PSA radio commercial of the year by Adweek magazine.

Alan has over 20 years of agency experience and has worked on everything from high profile consumer accounts, to package goods, B2B and high tech, for such accounts as T-Mobile, Nintendo, Dominos Pizza and Microsoft. 

Alan is a graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in Communications/Advertising, and teaches copywriting at Seattle's School of Visual Concepts. He has judged local, regional and national Addys awards shows

Judging for the 2011-12 ADDY competition was held on January 13th-15th.
